DESCRIPTION:
Since their introduction to Singapore Zoo in 1988, the polar bears have become the star attraction for many visitors. Needless to say that there is nowhere else in this region where you can find a polar bear especially in a warm tropical zoo.

The zoo authority prides itself in successfully maintaining the physical well being of the polar bears. Make no mistake that certain measures had to be taken to ensure that the polar bears are in good conditions and efforts were strived to emulate their natural habitat as close as possible. There are enough shades for the polar bears to lie down (and fall asleep of course!), a large and deep glass-enclosed pool where they can cool off (much to the excitement of the onlookers on the glass window!), an air-conditioned den, and frequent supply of live fish and frozen meats to simulate polar bear's behaviours in the Arctic.

The polar bears have since adjusted themselves by having thinner fur coating due to the noticeably warmer climate. The hallmark of the zoo's effort was when a female polar bear, nicknamed "Sheba", successfully gave birth to a healthy male cub, nicknamed "Inuka", in 1990.

MY VERDICT:
A must see. Where else can you find polar bears anyway.
